Ensure that the hardware is installed.
NOTES
If your workstation has a pop-up blocker installed, some System Administration Tool, Group Administration Tool, or Desktop Tool functions may not operate properly. For example, if you are running Internet Explorer 10 (or later), Mozilla Firefox 36.0.4 (or later), Google Chrome 59 (or later), or Microsoft Edge 38 (or later), the pop-up blocker is enabled by default. You may not be able to complete certain procedures until you enable the necessary pop-ups. See Enabling Pop-ups for details.
If you are setting up a network or cluster, you can synchronize many of the database forms from the database of this system by using the System Data Synchronization feature. The form data can then be shared among all the systems in the cluster or network. Refer to the Voice Networking book in this help system for instructions on how to set up a cluster of elements to allow data sharing. Refer to System Data Synchronization for instructions on how to initiate data sharing and synchronize data among systems.
To set up your system:
Use the Mitel Integrated Configuration Wizard to perform initial system setup and user commissioning. Not applicable to Container-based MiVoice Business (cMiVB).
Program the system IP properties using the Server Console. See Configure the Server. Not applicable to Container-based MiVoice Business (cMiVB).
Activate the license using the Server Manager (ServiceLink > Status). Not applicable to Container-based MiVoice Business (cMiVB).
Select Licenses
and Option Selection.
Program the IP Network Configuration forms. This programming applies to the CX II, CXi II, and MXe III platforms only, unless otherwise indicated.
NOTE: Programming the IP Network Configuration forms is not applicable to MiVoice Business for Industry Standard Servers (ISS).
Configure system security.
Program Controller Modules. This programming applies to AX, CX II, CXi II, and MXe III platforms only.
Program an AX Controller. This programming applies to AX platform only.
Program an EX Controller. This programming applies to EX platform only.
Program a Universal ASU, ASU, ASU II, or analog board. This programming applies to AX, CX II, CXi II, and MXe III platforms only.
Program Embedded PRI/QSIG Trunks (optional). This programming applies to AX, CX II, CXi II, and MXe III platforms only.
Add users individually or import user data.
Reboot the system.
For all platforms except Container-based MiVoice Business (cMiVB), set the system date and time from Configuration > Date and Time in the Server Manager. For Container-based MiVoice Business (cMiVB), set the system date and time from Solution Manager > Time Zone.
Program the analog telephones. Not applicable to Container-based MiVoice Business (cMiVB).
Program the Single Line IP telephones and Multiline IP telephones.
Program the DHCP Server.
NOTE: Programming the DHCP Server is not applicable to MiVoice Business for ISS.
Program the trunks (LS, MSDN/DPNSS, T1/D4, PRI/QSIG, or R2). This programming applies to AX, CX II, CXi II, EX, and MXe III platforms only.
Embedded PRI Trunks (T1/E1 module) are programmed using the System Administration Tool.
Program IP Networking and XNET trunks. Program Automatic Route Selection. See Preventing Toll Fraud for important examples.
Program the consoles (optional).
Program Music on Hold & Paging (optional).
Program the printer ports. Not applicable to Container-based MiVoice Business (cMiVB).
Program the required features and applications (see the Features Reference section of the Help).
If this system is part of a network or cluster, refer to About System Data Synchronization for details on how to synchronize the system databases across the network or cluster elements.
NOTE: Once system programming is completed, we recommend that you back up the database. Perform a DBMS save using the DBMS Save maintenance command.
